Secretary-General Welcome

Dear delegates and advisors,

 

It is my pleasure to formally invite you to attend Fremont Unified School District’s very first official inter-school Model United Nations conference, FreMUNt, which will be hosted on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at our American High School.

​

The officer corps of AHSMUN has been working hard for months to orchestrate this event, and with the input of other FUSD schools we have ensured that this conference is catered to the students in our district. Our chairs are from all over the city of Fremont and have extensive experience in MUN conferences and organization; all have been to several events and are officers in their respective clubs.

 

This conference draws inspiration from Berkeley Model United Nations, which is on its sixty-seventh year, and shares its values as a learning conference. To this end, FreMUNt is broken down into three committees for delegates with varying levels of experience. The novice committee is more structured with chairs that focus on teaching the process and providing guidance to new delegates, the intermediate committee is more hands-off to allow delegates to explore and refine their skills, and the advanced committee is centered on allowing experienced delegates to exercise creativity in problem-solving.

 

At FreMUNt, we believe that the skills of diplomacy in negotiation and clear articulation are essential to leading productive, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. As such, we aim to promote this philosophy through our conference and encourage delegates to leave their comfort zone.
